Funkanova

This was the only album released by disco group Wood Brass & Steel with their self titled album released in 1976 on Turbo Records. The two main tracks were "Always There" and "Funkanova" with the latter getting rinsed to great effect by Black Science Orchestra on their early nineties house classic "New Jersey Deep".
So what you get here is the original album cut and a wicked re-rub from author of 'Last Night A DJ Saved My Life','The brilliantly humerous 'How To DJ Properly' and the DJ History website...Bill Brewster.Check his fantastic site by clicking on the link on the right.

Hello - am extremely surprised to see NO comments on this lovely blog of yours regarding what is possibly one of the top 10 'Deep House' cuts from the late '80s Chicago scene. I only found this as I was downloading 'Funkanova' from iTunes (WTF??? Brilliant!).

Whoever you are, you clearly have a great ear for music. I remember going to the 'Box in Chicago around '87-88 and Ron Hardy...everytime he mixed 'Funkanova', people were UP - no questions at all. Doing drugs? Finish later. Trying to get somebody's number? Finish later. Tryin' to leave? Very funny.

Again, nice one. From a Chicago Sista.
