Blue Magic

A great album i bought recently is the re-mastered philly soul classic by Blue Magic with their self titled album.Originally released in 1974 on ATCO records a division of Atlantic and produced by philly kings Norman Harris and Al Felder with lead vocalist Ted "Wizard" Mills.A delightful soul album that features the cuts "Look Me Up" and "Welcome To The Club" with the latter in later years getting the full edit treatment by Ron Hardy who turns it into a 12 min plus monster.Today though you get the true master on hand Tom Moulton doing what he does best on "Look Me Up".Soul meets disco,a great combination indeed...

Hey Buddy,

Top blog! You seem to have a vast knowledge for music. I wonder if you can help me.

Recently, browsin through my local record store, i came across a dusty old white label cd. No cover or information other than the name "Teddy Liddle- Vol 1" written in black marker pen on the cd itself.

I vaguely recalled hearing of an exciting live act of that name playing a few underground gigs in Glasgow, Scotland back in the day, so took the cd home.

It must've been a week before i finally got round to putting it in the decks.... Man! what a waste of a week!

This guy must be the uk's best kept musical secret. A genre defying blend of soulful electronica with hints of hip-hop, tech-house, drum'n'bass this shit is aural gold!

Are you aware of this genius's work?
